Patricia O’Rourke for Trustee

Trustee since 2010

For many years I have been the only woman on the Board of Trustees. I work hard as a Trustee and enjoy interacting with my constituents. I am running for re-election and seek your vote to continue my service to our community.  I have lived 35 years in the Village of Lansing and ran a business here for 22 years. I currently work for the Ithaca City School District as a substitute teacher.

I served on the Tompkins County Youth Services Board and Tompkins County Council of Governments (TCCOG) where I am the alternate representative for the Emergency Response Oversight Committee. I rotate with other Trustees to attend Planning Board meetings, and I serve on the Village Deer Management Committee. I am responsible for checking and balancing the financial records of the Village. I chair a committee to honor previous Village leaders.

I attended training by the New York State Conference of Mayors and Municipal Officials and the Office of the State Controller, that focused on internal controls, capital planning, government accounting, and enacted and pending legislation. I work diligently to understand development issues and challenges that face the Village. I am especially interested in interactions between the Village and Town of Lansing and the Board relationship with Village residents.

Politically, I am a moderate and can represent fairly the views of all my constituents. I support a balanced use of Village land, including green space enjoyment, housing, business, and the technology park. I am committed to the Village infrastructure, including high quality roads, reliable water system, parks, and playgrounds.

The smooth running of government owes much to the quality of our Village personnel and an open, productive relationship among all members of the Village government. I am excited about working with my colleagues and Village residents on issues and challenges we face in keeping our community safe, environmentally friendly, and financially stable.

I look forward to continued service and would appreciate your vote for Trustee of the Village of Lansing.
